Make it stand out

What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulse control, and activity levels. While often discussed in childhood, many people continue to experience challenges into adulthood or only receive a diagnosis later in life. ADHD is not a flaw or a lack of effort—it’s a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world.

ADHD typically presents in three key areas:

  • Inattention – Difficulty focusing, staying organized, or completing tasks.

  • Hyperactivity – A strong need for movement or activity that may feel hard to suppress.

  • Impulsivity – Acting quickly without always considering the consequences, which can affect decision-making and social interactions.

If you are wondering whether ADHD might be playing a role in your life, an assessment can help bring clarity.

How Does an ADHD Assessment Work?

Seeking an ADHD assessment can feel like a big step, and we aim to make the process as clear, supportive, and empowering as possible. Our approach is grounded in national clinical guidelines and informed by extensive experience in both NHS and private settings. We take a neuroaffirmative stance—meaning we view ADHD as a natural variation in how brains work, rather than something that needs to be "fixed."

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Your journey starts with a 50-minute consultation where we discuss your experiences, challenges, and reasons for seeking an assessment. This is also an opportunity for us to explain the process, answer any questions you may have, and ensure an ADHD assessment is the right step for you. If another explanation for your difficulties seems more likely, we will explore that together.

Step 2: Questionnaires

Before the main assessment, you will complete structured questionnaires about your attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. We may also look at related areas such as mood, anxiety, or past experiences, as these can influence focus and energy levels.

Step 3: ADHD Assessment

The assessment itself is an in-depth conversation where we explore your strengths, struggles, and key life experiences. We will discuss how ADHD-related traits may have affected different areas of your life—from school and work to relationships and daily routines. If possible, gathering insights from someone who knows you well (such as a family member or partner) can add valuable context.

Step 4: Feedback & Report

After a thorough review, we will provide clear, compassionate feedback on whether ADHD is the best explanation for your difficulties. Regardless of the outcome, you will receive tailored recommendations and practical strategies to help you move forward. A detailed report summarizing the findings will also be provided.

Step 5: Follow-Up Support

A diagnosis (or the decision that ADHD isn’t the best explanation) is just the beginning of understanding yourself better. If helpful, we can arrange follow-up sessions to explore how to manage challenges, build on your strengths, and develop strategies tailored to your unique brain.

While we do not prescribe medication, we can guide you in accessing psychiatric support if that is something you wish to pursue. Our focus is on helping you make sense of your experiences and find ways to thrive, whether through therapy, coaching, or lifestyle adjustments.
